T O P I C R E V I E WMrSpace86I am thinking about sending photos to Germany to have a space traveler sign. It seems that shipping for an 11x14 in a rigid envelope is around $30. Anyone have recommendations or tips to ship and return photos internationally? eurospace11x14 seems pretty large to me — the usual photo size I send is 8x10. I do not usually use the option "priority mail" as is overpriced and expensive. My choice is almost always 1st Class International, a rate USPS conveniently hides on their webpage. Is the spacefarer retired or still active with ESA? If he is still with ESA, then ESA usually pays postage (at least to us Europeans). Is the spaceman retired, then you should supply a stamped and addressed return envelope and put German stamps on it. The current fare for an envelope you mention is probably 3,45 Euro up to 500 grams. Note that postage will go up on Jan. 1st and then cost 3,55 Euro.In case you do not have German stamps, I am sure a $5 banknote will do the trick. Good luck!Hart SastrowardoyoTo cut down on the shipping there and back, I send 5x7 photos, placed in a 7x9 SAE (with about $5 USD to cover postage), mailed to the person in a 8x10 envelope. Sent by air mail, as I don't send photos I'm worried about losing overseas (not unless you want to really pay for restricted delivery.) If there is such a photo, I send it overseas first - a photo I had of Ockels and Lampton I sent to Ockels first.eurospaceNot to be too nitpicking but Wubbo Ockels has passed away in the meantime. So not to repeat what Hart did... Hart SastrowardoyoNot unless you want - a ghostwritten signature! A-ha!MrSpace86Excellent! Thank you all for the advice! Yes, they did hide that rate. The space traveler is retired so yes, I will go ahead and enclose some US currency in there for the return.I appreciate it!
